Long Beach police Thursday were investigating the death of a 59-year-old man who may have been involved in an altercation earlier this week and was found dead the following day.

According to police, Anthony Mercy of Long Beach was found dead in the 1900 block of Long Beach Boulevard around 3:18 p.m. Wednesday, and he had sustained unspecified injuries.

Police said his cause of death was classified as undetermined, pending a determination by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Investigators determined that Mercy may have been involved in a dispute or altercation on Tuesday near 14th Street and Seaside Park.
