A brush fire that broke out Friday on a hillside near the west end of Corona, along the Riverside (91) Freeway, burned roughly five acres before it was contained.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly after 1 p.m. Friday in the area of the eastbound 91 and Green River Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Multiple engine crews from the Corona Fire Department, as well as personnel from the Riverside County Fire Department and Orange County Fire Authority, were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a moderate rate in medium brush.
No homes or other structures were threatened as firefighters deployed around the brusher, with assistance from at least one Cal Fire air tanker, according to reports from the scene.
Winds were not a factor, and by 2 p.m., the blaze was fully contained.
Crews were expected to be mopping up until sundown.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
