A suspect was in custody Thursday in the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old man aboard a Metro E Line train in the University Park area.
Officers went to the LATTC/Ortho Institute station in the 2400 block of South Flower Street, near Adams Boulevard, about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and took Jalil Sosa Illera to a hospital, where he later died, police said.
On Wednesday, the LAPD released security images of the wanted man, and on Thursday morning the LAPD announced that 19-year-old Carlos Carrillo-Martinez, of Los Angeles, had turned himself in at the 77th Area Police Station.
“Carrillo-Martinez admitted being the suspect … and was interviewed by detectives,” police said in a statement.
Carrillo-Martinez was booked on suspicion of murder, and his bail was set at $2 million, police said.
“Detectives from Central Bureau Homicide will continue their investigation and present their case to the Los Angeles (County) District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration,” police said. Other details were not released by police.
