Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that fatally struck a pedestrian in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles Sunday and fled the scene, authorities said.
Officers responded to a radio call of a traffic collision at Western and Vernon avenues at about 2:05 a.m. Sunday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
According to police, the pedestrian was lying on the street at the time. After striking the victim, the suspect’s vehicle continued north on Western, while the pedestrian was rushed to a hospital and succumbed to his injuries. His age and identity were not immediately clear.
Police said the driver could face a vehicular manslaughter charge if arrested.
