A teenage motorcyclist was killed Wednesday when he collided with another vehicle making a turn in Redondo Beach.

Officers responded to the intersection of Carnelian Street and Pacific Coast Highway around 2:17 p.m. Wednesday regarding an unresponsive boy lying in the street, according to Redondo Beach Police Department spokesman Lt. Corey King.

Detectives discovered during their investigation that the boy was traveling southbound on Pacific Coast Highway moments before colliding with a vehicle making a turn west onto Carnelian Street.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died as a result of injuries sustained from the collision.

His name was being withheld by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner pending notification by relatives, King said.

The woman driving the other vehicle involved in the collision is cooperating with investigators, King said.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, King said.

The Redondo Beach Police Department Fatal Accident Investigation Team are investigating, King said.

The intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Carnelian Street was closed while detectives investigated the collision.

Anyone with information regarding the fatal collision was urged to call Investigator Scot Martin at 310-279-2477, ext. 3862.
