A person was shot in or near a Northridge apartment building Friday and taken to a hospital in unknown condition, and police swarmed the area in search of a suspect.
The shooting was reported at 11:25 a.m. Friday in the 17000 block of Plummer Street, where one person was found shot inside a car, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said they were looking for a suspect who was described as a woman in her 50s.
Responding officers heard gunfire as they approached the scene. An apartment manager reportedly told officers that the suspect lived alone in the building. Officers approached her unit but were unable to contact her. It was unknown if she was actually there.
Police surrounded the building as the search continued.
The cause of the shooting was unknown.
