Fire erupted in a residential structure in the Westlake area Thursday, but there were no immediate reports of any injuries.
Firefighters responded around 3:20 p.m. to a two-story how that had been converted into a duplex in the in the 2700 block of James M. Wood Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Arriving crews reported “heavy fire” on the second floor and in the attic.
Crews doused the flames in less than an hour, but the structure sustained heavy damage to the roof.
It was unclear what may have sparked the fire. The cause was under investigation.
