A 2-year-old girl is in the hospital Monday morning after she was shot while riding in the back seat of a car in Santa Ana.
The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. Sunday around 16th and Spurgeon streets, according to media reports.
The driver rushed the wounded child to Children’s Hospital of Orange County where the toddler reportedly underwent several surgeries but was expected to survive.
News video showed investigators examining the white sedan with bullet holes in the back and setting up a crime scene around shell casings.
Information about suspects and the motive for the shooting was not available.
