A 39-year-old man suspected in a DUI crash in Seal Beach early Monday that killed a passenger in his vehicle was arrested.

Officers responded to the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and North Gate Road around 2 a.m. Monday to a report regarding a traffic accident involving an unresponsive female passenger, according to the Seal Beach Police Department.

Detectives discovered the passenger was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, identified as Victor Alfonso Campos Carranza of Los Angeles, was taken to a hospital for treatment and later to the Orange County Jail and booked on suspicion of felony DUI causing bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

A Sigalert was issued, which affected all southbound lanes on Seal Beach Boulevard at Old Ranch Parkway, several northbound lanes at Golden Rain Road, and both north and southbound off-ramp left turn lanes at Seal Beach Boulevard until 11:30 a.m.

The investigation remains ongoing.
