A man was fatally shot Monday in Gardena, and an investigation was underway.
Officers were sent to the 15100 block of Vermont Avenue about 3:30 a.m. after receiving “a call of a male down with a possible gunshot wound in front of the location,” said Gardena police Lt. Christopher Cuff.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had been shot in the torso,” Cuff said. “Despite efforts by the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Information was not immediately available on the man’s identity. According to CBS 2, the shooting occurred in front of a skilled nursing facility.
Other details were not released by police. Traffic was routed away from the area while an investigation was conducted.
