A 33-year-old man suspected of burglary was taken into custody after being trapped behind a wall in a church building in downtown Los Angeles, police said Thursday.
Dejaun Marcus Boyd was arrested Wednesday without incident after being extricated from an air duct by firefighters during an alleged burglary attempt, according to Officer Drake Madison, spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Firefighters were sent to the 1500 block of South Hill Street at about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday on a preliminary report that a man was trapped inside of the building’s duct system.
“Firefighters located a man behind a brick wall inside of (the) commercial building,” the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. “The man was awake and talking to them, but trapped and unable to free himself. Firefighters breached the wall with sledge hammers and other tools to free the man. Paramedics evaluated him, found him to be in good condition, and he was released into LAPD custody.”
The building houses a church, according to Fox11.
