An Azusa man was pronounced dead in a Pasadena apartment and police believe he was the victim of an assault, authorities said Saturday.
Pasadena officers were summoned at 10:57 p.m. Friday to an apartment building in the 100 block of North Catalina Avenue, where paramedics worked to save a man to no avail, according to Pasadena police Lt. Keith Gomez. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered the adult male was physically assaulted prior to experiencing his medical emergency,” Gomez said.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Desmond Terence Murrell, the lieutenant said.
An investigation was underway by robbery/homicide detectives to determine the motive for the attack, Gomez said.
Anyone with information was asked to call Pasadena police at 626-744-4241 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
