Los Angeles police Thursday sought the public’s help to identify a man suspected in a series of indecent exposure incidents in the Mid-City and West Los Angeles areas.
One crime occurred shortly after midnight on Jan. 28, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“The suspect began harassing residents in the 800 block of North Croft Avenue,” police said in a statement. “He exposed himself and made crude comments to a woman on her way home, then returned several more times to stare in her windows.
“On March 2 … he repeated this conduct in the 5700 block of West Sixth Street in the early morning hours, then again in the 1200 block of Armacost Avenue shortly afterward,” police said.
Witnesses described the man as white or Hispanic, about 45-50 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He had graying hair, a dark mustache and brown eyes.
“When you’re at home, you should be thinking about comfort and relaxation, not this lewd conduct,” said LAPD Detective Brent Hopkins. “There’s no place for this in our neighborhoods.”
The LAPD has increased patrols in the areas, and detectives have been in communication with their counterparts at surrounding agencies, Hopkins said. They have also circulated security images of the suspect.
“The community is our most valuable ally and source of information,” Hopkins said. “Someone out there knows who this guy is and can help us put an end to this disturbing behavior.”
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Hopkins at 213-473-0447 or send him an email at 39343@lapd.online. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 877-LAPD-247.
