An investigation was continuing Friday into a shooting in South Los Angeles that left a 14-year-old boy dead.

According to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Officer Drake Madison, officers responded to the 2300 block of East Century Boulevard around 10 p.m. Thursday after hearing gunshots in the area.

The officers found a 14-year-old boy slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died, Madison said.

Two people were detained for questioning, but it was unclear if any arrests had been made.

Detectives have not confirmed if the shooting was gang-related.
