A motorist escaped with no injuries after he was fired upon after exiting his vehicle during an attempted robbery Saturday morning in Long Beach, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched at about 12:15 a.m. to an “unknown trouble” call in the 1000 block of West Carson Street, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

The victim had exited his vehicle and was approached by an armed man who pointed a gun and tried to rob him, police said.

“The victim fled and heard multiple gunshots behind him,” according to an LBPD statement. “The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Officers were unable to locate any evidence of a shooting.”
