A stolen vehicle pursuit ended Tuesday when the motorist struck another vehicle and overturned after blowing through a red light, authorities said.
At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, the La Verne Police Department received a call about a stolen vehicle reported by Upland police driving in the area of Williams Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in the city of La Verne.
La Verne police attempted a traffic stop but the driver, accompanied by a female passenger, failed to comply, initiating a pursuit, police said.
The suspect entered westbound Interstate 10. During the pursuit, the passenger made attempts to exit the moving vehicle but was forcibly pulled back in by the suspect, according to La Verne police. Subsequently, the suspect slowed the vehicle, allowing the female passenger to exit.
The pursuit continued on and off the freeway and through surface streets in West Covina. It came to an end when the suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Barranca Avenue and Garvey Avenue. The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
Police said he would be held on suspicion of felony evading, domestic violence and false imprisonment.
