A 31-year-old motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries in a collision with a vehicle at a Palm Springs intersection, police said Monday.
According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the motorcyclist was heading north on North Gene Autry Trail around 8 p.m. Sunday and collided with a vehicle that was heading in the opposite direction and making a left turn onto East Via Escuela.
The motorcyclist, an Auburn resident whose name was not released, died in the crash. The other driver, a 64-year-old Rancho Mirage resident, stayed at the scene and was taken to a local hospital with “moderate injuries,” police said.
Investigators determined that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, which resulted in North Gene Autry Trail being closed overnight, reopening at 1:30 a.m. Monday, police said.
