A collision involving a Metro E Line train and a USC Transportation bus in the Exposition Park area Tuesday left at least 16 people injured.

The crash occurred shortly before noon in the 900 block of West Exposition Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“Two from the bus — not trapped — were transported in moderate-to-serious condition,” an LAFD statement about an hour after the crash said. “Unknown total (number of) bus occupants at the time of the collision. At least 14 additional patients from the train were evaluated on scene with minor injuries — total hospital transports will be updated at a later time.”

According to Metro, the “train-auto incident” occurred near the Expo Park/USC Station.

Metro was using buses to shuttle passengers through the area while the investigation was continuing and the train tracks remained blocked.

A section of Exposition Boulevard was closed, and people were advised to stay away from the area, according to the USC Department of Public Safety.
