Firefighters Sunday were attempting to free a trapped person at the scene of a two-vehicle collision that involved a pedestrian.

The crash occurred at 4738 W. Venice Blvd., east of La Brea Avenue, in the Mid-City area, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

It was not immediately clear if it was a vehicle occupant or the pedestrian who was trapped. It was also unclear if there were any other injuries.

Prange said that fire personnel were initiating medical care and extrication operations.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
