Firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department rescued an injured hiker Tuesday from an inaccessible area in Massacre Canyon.

The hiker was reported injured around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday in a remote area North of Gilman Hot Springs, according to fire officials.

After making access to the hiker, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department helicopter hoisted the patient out of the canyon.

The hiker was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries by ground ambulance with moderate injuries.

No further information was immediately available.
