A 28-year-old man who was fatally shot in Maywood was identified Tuesday.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Armando Islas, Jr.
The shooting was reported at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 4800 block of E. 58th Street, west of the Los Angeles River, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Arriving deputies found Islas, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Southwest Rio Vista YMCA is on the corner of 58th Street and Heliotrope Avenue, at the beginning of the block. However, it was unclear if the shooting occurred at that location.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives were conducting a crime scene investigation.
A motive for the shooting and description of the shooter were not immediately known.
