A 46-year-old man suspected of firing a weapon at a Downey shopping center was taken into custody Tuesday, but there were no reports of any injuries.

According to Downey Police Department Lt. Maria Villegas, officers responded to Downey Landing in the 12100 block of Lakewood Boulevard around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday regarding reports of shots fired.

Upon further investigation, investigators identified Scott Hoover of Glendora as a person of interest, and he was quickly detained, police said.

“There are no reported injuries, and it does not appear that any buildings or vehicles were hit by the gunfire,” Villegas said in a statement.

The shooting appeared to be an isolated incident, and the investigation was ongoing.
