Firefighters battled and then extinguished an intense fire at a two-story home Wednesday near the Lafayette Square neighborhood of Mid-City.
Fire crews were called to 2016 South Rimpau Blvd. near West 21st Street around 12:25 a.m. and they were able to contain the flames and protect nearby homes, said the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It took 48 firefighters 44 minutes to extinguish the flames.
NBC 4 reported a group of neighbors, using hoses from their homes, pitched in to help douse the flames.
Fire crews remained at the scene to assist with the cleanup of debris from the fire.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
