A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty Friday and was immediately sentenced to four years in prison for abusing a baby in Costa Mesa.
Michael Andrew Clark pleaded guilty to four felony counts of child abuse and endangerment, with sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury on a child younger than 5.
Clark accepted a plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Judge Kazuharu Makino over the objections of prosecutors. Clark was given credit for 286 days in jail.
According to letters supporting him in court records, Clark was formerly an Eagle Scout.
On Oct. 17, 2023, Clark assaulted the infant, who remains hospitalized.
