A motorist was killed Saturday when a vehicle rear-ended his car, causing him to crash into a pole in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles in a case now considered a homicide.

The crash occurred at 5:28 p.m. Saturday at Adams Boulevard and West View Street, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im told City News Service.

The motorist, described as a man about 32 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, Im said.

A 21-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene, suspected of crashing a vehicle into the victim’s car, he said.

The motive for the alleged homicide was under investigation, Im said.

A news videographer at the scene said he spoke to someone who claimed to have witnessed the victim’s car get rammed by suspects in a blue SUV who then took contents from the vehicle and fled. A perimeter search of the area then ensued.
