Two boys suspected of graffitiing several areas of a Culver City elementary school, including with hate speech, and committing other acts of vandalism were arrested Monday and then released to their parents.

Officers responded to a report of vandalism at El Marino Elementary School in the 11400 block of Port Road, near the San Diego (405) Freeway, around 6:50 a.m. Thursday, according to Jennifer Atenza, the Culver City Police Department’s public information officer.

Investigators identified both suspects as two boys who live in Los Angeles and arrested them Monday.

The boys, neither students within the Culver City Unified School District, were later released to their parents.

“Culver City police will continue to collaborate closely with the Culver City Unified School District to support our school community and ensure the safety and well-being of our school campuses. Additional patrols of the area are being conducted for added peace of mind,” Atenza said in a statement.

“The Culver City Police Department condemns all forms of hate and is committed to combating this type of criminal activity.”
