A 41-year-old inmate in an intake sobering cell at the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday.
Joshua Frank Swart of Lake Elsinore was found unresponsive around 2:15 p.m. Sunday, according to a department statement. Medical assistance was immediately administered by staff until paramedics arrived. Swart was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of Swart’s death is under investigation. There were no signs of foul play.
