A man suspected of drunken driving, along with a passenger, were taken into custody after eluding law enforcement on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway from Mission Hills to Pacoima Wednesday evening.

Officers began pursuing the vehicle shortly before 9 p.m. as the driver drove on the freeway before traveling on surface streets.

Although there was no official confirmation from police, it was presumed that someone in the car tossed a weapon out the window during the chase, according to KCAL.

At least three passengers exited the vehicle near Norris Avenue and Pierce Street in Pacoima and took off running.

The driver, who was wearing a Toronto Blue Jays cap, eventually surrendered to the police a short time later, along with a passenger who was also located.

It was unclear if the other occupants were found and taken into custody.

Detectives were continuing their investigation Wednesday evening.
