A 31-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in Temecula, authorities said Monday.
Andrey Raymundo Tovar Serrato of La Puente was booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of unlawful sex with a minor, furnishing cannabis to a minor, and lewd acts on a child under 16 years old.
Just before midnight on Aug. 12, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a juvenile sexual assault victim being treated at a local hospital. She told authorities that the alleged crime occurred in the 40000 block of Winchester Road.
Investigators discovered that the suspect initially contacted the victim through an online platform and later formed a relationship for sexual purposes, the department said. Serrato was identified as the suspect and arrested in La Puente on Aug. 27, according to the department.
He was released the next day on $30,000 bail.
Anyone with information about the alleged crime was urged to contact Deputy McKinney at the sheriff’s Southwest station at 951-696-3000.
