Two men suspected of grand theft in Ventura County, along with an assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly hitting a law enforcement vehicle, were taken into custody near Carson Friday after leading officers on a pursuit across multiple freeways and streets.

The driver traveled erratically on the Ventura (101) and San Diego (405) freeways in a yellow Ford Mustang, bypassing multiple vehicles, at times driving on the shoulder or squeezing through stopped cars.

At one point, the suspect was in heavy traffic near Olympic Boulevard on the San Diego freeway, prompting the driver to travel on the shoulder to avoid congestion.

The motorist eventually exited the freeway and took to surface streets near West Century and Aviation boulevards in Westchester.

The suspect continued driving into the Inglewood area, where they briefly turned into a business parking lot before traveling back on the road and heading to the eastbound Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway before merging onto the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway.

Later into the chase, the rear tire on the driver’s side blew out on the Harbor freeway. The motorist ultimately came to a stop and both suspects were eventually taken into custody around 5:40 p.m. near the transition of the southbound Harbor freeway to the westbound Artesia (91) Freeway.
