An armed robbery suspect tried to hide after stealing cash from a Riverside convenience store Saturday but a police K-9 quickly located him and took him into custody.
The robbery at knifepoint occurred Saturday afternoon at the 7-Eleven store at Van Buren Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, according to a Riverside Police Department statement.
A responding sergeant spotted the suspect near Harrison Street and railroad tracks and as he tried to hide in vegetation, police said.
K-9 “Kobe” located the person in thick brush and helped officers take him into custody, police said. A knife and the allegedly stolen cash were recovered.
Officers took the male suspect, whose age was not provided, to a hospital to be treated for dog bites before he was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
