A 16-year-old boy suspected in the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man in Coachella was taken into custody Tuesday in Ontario.

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit, with the assistance of the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Gang Impact Team personnel, arrested the juvenile suspect as an additional person of interest connected to the killing of Coachella resident Isaac Gonzalez, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities withheld the juvenile suspect’s name due to his age.

Two other suspects were taken into custody on Friday: 18-year-old Fabian Diaz and a 17-year-old boy, whose name was withheld due to his age.

Both suspects are Coachella residents and were booked on suspicion of murder, robbery and conspiracy — the 17-year-old suspect into juvenile hall and Diaz into the John Benoit Detention Center.

Deputies were sent to the 84900 block of Calle Rojo in Coachella on Aug. 28 around 10:35 p.m. regarding multiple shots fired, where Gonzalez was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

Gonzalez was immediately rendered medical assistance but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the fatal shooting was urged to call Investigators D. Robertson or J. Newby at 951-955-2777.
