Authorities sought the public’s help Tuesday to solve the shooting death of a man in his Long Beach home, a crime that initially was regarded by police as a possible suicide.

“Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a 72-year-old man that occurred on Nov. 1, 2024, in the 4700 block of Greenmeadow Road,” the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement Tuesday.

Officers went to the address around 8:20 p.m. Friday “to assist the Long Beach Fire Department regarding a possible suicide,” the LBPD statement said.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim lying inside his residence with a gunshot wound to the upper body that appeared to be self-inflicted,” the LBPD statement said. “Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined the man deceased at the scene.

“Homicide detectives and the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner Investigator responded to the scene to investigate the incident,” the LBPD statement said. “Detectives, in coordination with the Department of the Medical Examiner, determined the wound was not self-inflicted. Homicide detectives are investigating the motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting and are working to identify a possible suspect(s).”

The fatally wounded man’s name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Homicide Detectives Eric Thai or Kelsey Myers 562-570-7244. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, or use the website www.lacrimestoppers.org.

  1. As always a Long Beach dread is out there killing somebody!
Seeing the fat dog is dead! As well as everybody else. Every time you have an officer involved shooting all it is is an officer out there and murdering somebody and getting away with it. First and foremost 21 weeks of handling a gun I’ll never teach you how “Not” to kill somebody. But how I guarantee it he wasn’t of the right color! And it have to be a racism problem.
Here’s more cyber fraud! Should have paid attention about the Cyber fraud that you committed on Facebook everyday because you had no legal right to social media.
Police officer certification and licensure in the United States

Google This — > Police officer certification and licensing in the United States!
    This is a national average
In the United States, certification and licensure requirements for law enforcement officers vary significantly from state to state.[1][2] Policing in the United States is highly fragmented,[1] and there are no national minimum standards for licensing police officers in the U.S.[3] Researchers say police are given far more training on use of firearms than on de-escalating provocative situations.[4] On average, US officers spend around 21 weeks training how to handle a gun, and no other training for anything else….  Training before they are qualified to go on patrol, which is far less than in most other developed countries.[4][5] and as I’ve always stated unlicensed and uneducated officers driving the streets at the State of California.
