Fire damaged an attic at a single-story home in Porter Ranch Sunday and one firefighter was later taken to a hospital, authorities said.

Firefighters dispatched at 12:56 p.m. to 11140 N. Cabriole Ave. had the fire out within 33 minutes of their arrival, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

“All occupants swiftly evacuated and remained safely together outside the residence prior to firefighters’ arrival,” said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. “Though early indications are that a plumbing repair with hot torch work was taking place in the attic when flames erupted, the specific cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed,” Humphrey added.

One firefighter who became “acutely ill” due to the fire was taken to a hospital in what Humphrey described as “fair condition” for a medical evaluation.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
