Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters knocked down an approximately quarter-acre brush fire underneath the Griffith Observatory Friday at Griffith Park near Los Feliz.
The fire was reported at 4:29 a.m. at 2800 E. Observatory Road near the Greek Theater. Using both air and ground attacks, fire crews knocked down the flames, with no injuries reported and no structures damaged, said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
Crews will remain at the scene conducting mop up operations throughout the morning, Stewart said.
