A vegetation fire of less than an acre in Sylmar was contained Saturday.

Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, air and ground response crews were battling a half-acre vegetation fire in the 12600 block of Maclay Street, near the Foothill (210) Freeway, in Sylmar, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

It grew by another quarter-acre by about 6:30 p.m.

With the assistance of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the LAFD was able to knockdown the fire by 7:45 p.m.

No injuries were reported or structures were damaged, according to the LAFD.

Crews were expected to remain on scene through the night to monitor hotspots.
