A Riverside County man was charged Tuesday with murder in connection with the shooting death of a homeless man in Long Beach last month.

Al Gene Fisher, 55, of Hemet, is facing one count each of murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Officers responding to a shooting call at about 7:10 p.m. Oct. 22 found Kendell Williams, 36, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Paramedics pronounced Williams, who was homelessness, dead at the scene.

Detectives arrested Fisher in Long Beach last Friday. Police said he was in possession of a firearm.

Police said the motive for the killing was under investigation, but detectives believe the victim and Fisher were acquaintances who were involved in a dispute.
