A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision near Koreatown Wednesday, prompting police to seek public assistance in locating the driver.

The pedestrian was crossing westbound on Western Avenue at Seventh Street inside a crosswalk and was struck by a light gray or blue 2004-06 Acura MDX at around 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Western and continued toward Fourth Street without stopping to render aid.

Detectives presume that the vehicle sustained damage on the front right passenger side.

The name of the victim was being withheld, pending notification of relatives.

The city of Los Angeles is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.

“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, notify emergency service, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” the police department said in a statement.

Anyone with information regarding the fatal collision was urged to contact LAPD West Traffic Detective Holmes at 213-473-0238.
