Firefighters made progress Monday knocking down a brush fire that had burned at least one-quarter acre in Central Los Angeles.
Units responded around 7:40 a.m. Monday and arrived a few minutes later to a heavy vegetation fire near the Elysian Reservoir ravine, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
As of 8:30 a.m., all forward progress of the blaze has been stopped, officials said.
“Units will remain on scene with the assistance of the LA Park Rangers to monitor and extinguish and hot spots or flare-ups until the fire is deemed extinguished,” LAFD dispatcher Jennifer Middleton said in a statement.
Fire personnel said 35 firefighters were able to confine the area with hose lines.
No injuries reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
