The investigation continued Tuesday into a fatal traffic collision at a Perris intersection that left a pedestrian dead.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Perris station responded shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday to a major injury traffic collision involving an SUV and pedestrian at the intersection of Ramona Expressway and North Perris Boulevard, authorities said.
They found the pedestrian unresponsive in the eastbound lanes of the Ramona Expressway. The victim, whose identity was not released, was rushed to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
Officials said the SUV driver “remained at the scene and cooperated during the investigation.”
Preliminary findings from the Perris Station Reconstruction Team suggested that the vehicle was headed eastbound. The department added that drugs and/or alcohol were not immediately suspected to be a factor.
Anyone with relevant information was encouraged to contact Deputy Christopher Galindo of the Perris sheriff’s station at 951-210-1000 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
