Two people driving trucks that may have been stolen in Nevada led authorities on concurrent chases Monday from northern Los Angeles County into North Hollywood and the Adams-Normandie area Monday before both were taken into custody.
The chases began early Monday afternoon on the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Newhall area, both involving suspects driving GMC trucks.
As the suspects weaved through traffic at speeds occasionally topping 100 mph, one exited the freeway in the North Hollywood area and came to a stop near Saticoy Street and Lankershim Boulevard, where the driver was eventually taken into custody.
A second suspect driving a silver GMC pickup continued the high-speed chase, taking a circuitous route from the 5 Freeway to the Glendale (2) Freeway, then eventually back south on the 5 and into downtown Los Angeles, where he sped on surface streets near USC and came to a stop near Jefferson Boulevard and Halldale Avenue in the Adams-Normandie area. He was taken into custody after briefly trying to flee on foot.
Unconfirmed reports from the scene indicated the vehicles may have both been stolen from a dealership in Carson City, Nevada, on Sunday.
