A pedestrian was fatally struck Tuesday on the San Gabriel River (605) Tuesday in Whittier.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at 2:21 a.m to the southbound freeway and Whittier Boulevard where they learned the pedestrian had been struck by multiple vehicles while walking on the freeway, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The name, age and gender of the victim was not immediately known.
Kravig said the carpool and two left lanes of the freeway were closed while the CHP investigated the cause of the crash.
