An investigation was underway Monday into a motorcycle crash in Long Beach that killed two people.

Officers were called at 7:35 p.m. Sunday to the intersection of Wardlow Road and Wooddruff Avenue after getting a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The rider, later identified as Austin Patrick Fett, 28, of Lakewood, and a passenger in the vehicle were pronounced dead by fire crews already at the scene when officers arrived, police said.

They transported the driver of vehicle to a local hospital. That person’s condition was not immediately available.

“The preliminary investigation indicates a 2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle was traveling (north) on Woodruff Avenue,” police said. “A 2006 Toyota Highlander was turning left from southbound Woodruff Avenue to eastbound Wardlow Road when the Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle collided into the Toyota Highlander.”

Impaired driving is not suspected as a possible factor in the crash, police said.

The identity of the passenger was withheld pending next of kin notifications.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision was urged to contact Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Detail Detective Efrain Pineda at 562-570-7355.
