Police sought the public’s assistance Wednesday in locating a suspected hit-and-run driver responsible for killing a man in the Vermont-Vista area of Los Angeles.
The collision occurred on Feb 24 around 7 p.m. as a white compact sedan made a northbound turn onto Figueroa Street from 104th Place moments before striking a pedestrian outside of a crosswalk in the area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver of the sedan continued traveling northbound on Figueroa Street without stopping to render aid to the victim.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location and took the man to a hospital, where he later died.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” the police department said in a statement.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect.
Detectives released a video clip of the fatal hit-and-run collision in hopes of generating public assistance in locating a person of interest.
