Police sought the public’s assistance Thursday finding the person who fatally stabbed a 43-year-old woman in South Los Angeles.
Kishuandra Gatlin was found at her residence in the 11700 block of Figueroa Street with stab wounds and later pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
It was unclear what motivated the attack, and there was no description of a suspect.
A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect.
Members of Gatlin’s family joined LAPD detectives Thursday at a news conference urging anyone with information to come forward. LAPD Homicide Detective Iris Romero said there were people in the area at the time of the killing.
“Just north of the location there were train tracks, and (near) those train tracks there were several homeless encampments,” Romero said. “And it was a very busy area. And I want to ask if anybody knows of any family members that were living in that area or around that area that might have information about what happened to please call us. No tip, no information is too little, and there’s nothing we won’t follow.”
Anyone with information was urged to contact Romero at 323-786-5110. Calls during non-business hours or weekends should be directed to 877-527-3247. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
