A woman found dead by Caltrans workers in the Mid-City area was publicly identified Monday.
She was 33-year-old Evelin Morales Garcia, the Medical Examiner’s office said. Her city of residence was not available.
Just before 9 a.m. Sunday, officers received reports of a body, which upon investigation was located within the Accident Investigation Site adjacent to the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway east of La Brea Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Garcia’s cause of death and how her body ended up in that area were not immediately known.
The discovery was being investigated by the CHP Southern Division Major Crimes Unit and anyone with information related to the incident was asked to call Southern Division Special Services at 323-644-9550 or 323-259-3200.
