A 22-year-old man was arrested this week for his alleged involvement in a shooting in Palm Desert, authorities said.

The victim, who was not identified, arrived at a hospital on Feb. 26 with a gunshot wound, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.

His current condition was not available.

The investigation led authorities to identify a suspect “associated with the shooting” as Alexander Puentes-Rivera of Palm Desert. On Tuesday, deputies from the department’s Palm Desert station, with help from the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team and the Riverside County Region 1 Gang Task Force Team, served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in the 7400 block of Petunia Place.

During a search of the property, they allegedly found several firearms, including unserialized guns.

Rivera and an unnamed 17-year-old were arrested.

Rivera was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio for alleged possession of an assault rifle, and was released on $10,000 bail, though sheriff’s officials described him as . The teenager was booked at a juvenile hall for alleged possession of an illegal firearm.
