A fire that erupted Thursday in a Perris home caused extensive damage and injured the occupant before it was contained.
The blaze was reported about 10:15 a.m. in the 300 block of West Seventh Street, near Interstate 215, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency stated multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered smoke billowing from the single-story house.
Firefighters quickly deployed to prevent the flames from spreading throughout the property. The fire was fully contained 20 minutes later, according to officials.
The occupant of the home suffered unspecified minor injuries and was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment. The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, had several pets in the house, but there were no reports of injuries to the animals.
Red Cross personnel were requested to assist the party with finding temporary alternate lodgings.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
