A man believed about 30 years old was killed Friday when he was struck by a black pickup on the Los Angeles-Vernon border.

The crash occurred at about 1:35 a.m. near East Vernon Avenue and South Alameda Street, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jeff Lee told City News Service.

The man was crossing when he was struck by the truck that was southbound on Alameda Street, Lee said.

Video from the scene showed the pickup on a sidewalk and debris from a broken trash holder strewn on the sidewalk.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and the pickup driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, Lee said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, he said.
