A 42-year-old inmate at the Intake Release Center in Santa Ana died Tuesday, officials said.
The inmate, whose name was not immediately released, was booked Monday by Anaheim police for a parole violation. Authorities were working to notify his family before releasing his name.
Deputies found the inmate unresponsive in his cell in Module J, officials said. The inmate was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of death will be determined after results of an autopsy and toxicology tests are done, officials said.
As is routine, the District Attorney’s Office will investigate the death.
